It's not just about looking good but feeling good - using responsible clothing that makes a positive impact on the well-being of our environment. Sustainability is a hot topic, and conscious consumers today have the option to choose from many products with a reduced environmental impact. At Scampi we know that swimwear can be stunning, durable and sustainable at the same time and our mission is to have zero impact on our beautiful planet. To that end, we have taken a number of steps and will continuously improve and evolve our practices. Some of the things we have done is to partner up with Aquafil, the leading manufacturer of ECONYL® regenerated nylon, to produce our swimwear in European factories with fair working conditions and to fully offset the remaining impact made by our product creation -and more- to have it all climate positive.

Climate positive?

All Scampi products are climate positive meaning that by a total assessment by an independent third party they do not contribute to global warming and we compensate for more than our remaining emissions. Achieving climate positivity is all about the math. By having Tricorona Climate Partner calculate and analyze all emissions throughout our supply chain, from sewing thread production to web shop order shipments, we can apply strategies to reduce those emissions as much as possible. Then we offset 120% of the remaining emissions. Our emissions are calculated by the ISO 14021 standard and our offsets decrease emissions by supporting certified climate projects in developing countries where it has the greatest positive effect for our planet. This season we support the solar power plant of Godawari in Rajastahn, India that daily produces fossil-free energy used in the power grid. The facility is the first of its kind and is leading the way for scaled-up solar power generation in India and the project is certified through both CDM and Gold Standard.

Fabrics & trims

At Scampi we always search for the ultimate and mort eco-friendly materials for our swimwear. All our swimwear use fabrics made with ECONYL® yarn, a 100% renegaded nylon fiber, made from nylon water otherwise polluting the Earth, like fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring and industrial plastic.

The ECONYL® Regeneration System starts with rescuing nylon waste from all over the world. That waste is then sorted and cleaned to recover all the nylon possible. Through a radical regeneration and purification process, the nylon waste is recycled right back to its original purity. That means ECONYL® regenerated nylon is the same as fossil-based nylon.

With every swimsuit we produce, we recycle up to 300 grams of marine litter and other nylon waste as well as reducing our environmental footprint thanks to the eco-friendly production process of the ECONYL team. That's great for our planet but that's not all, thanks to its innovative construction and superior quality, the ECONYL fabric is twice as resistant to chlorine and sunscreen lotion and oils than competitors' fabrics making your swimwear last much longer.

Deterioration in swimsuits is mainly determined by elastane breakage, which weakens the fabric and causes a loss of shape and fit. Thanks to the innovative construction and presence of Xtra Life LYCRA® our fabric gets more chlorine resistant than your average swimwear fabric. The technology behind it means that the fibers resist fabric breakdown more than 5 times longer than your average chlorine-resistant spandex, having our swimwear stay in your closet that much longer. Tests have shown that even after 240 hours of active chlorine exposure, our fiber has astonishingly shown to have no significant fiber breakage.

As another step towards sustainability we have shifted to better packaging and plastic consumption practices by using only recycled packaging, hangtags, size labels and plastic bags as well as having web shop order bags made from recycled material.

Responsible production

All our garments are crafted in Europe using small scale production made by skilled and experienced hands that are working under fair conditions. All to ensure a sustainable production chain and the premium quality we demand.

We regularly conduct factory visits to ensure that the people producing our clothes are paid a fair wage, treated respectfully, and working in safe conditions. Our team has developed close, long-term working relationships with the factories in our supply chain and we consider each factory employee to be a member of the Scampi team.

We only use digital printing to reduce fabric waste and allow the flexibility to have small runs of production. Digital printing reduces water waste because the fabric doesn't need as many wash/rinse cycles, and there are no screens or colorant baths that require cleaning.

Timeless design

Another very important step to our planet-friendly swimwear is to apply the timeless design that is our hallmark, creating items that will stay in your wardrobe for years. The choices made in design and product development significantly affect the environmental impacts of a product's use and life cycle. Therefore, a well-designed, timeless, high-quality and functional product is a more sustainable choice. All our colors and seasonal prints are made to last for years.

Now let's go swimming!
